Day 5 – Trust in the Lord

Reading:- Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”

Reflection

‘You have to trust me’, he said. ’Why should I?’ she replied. It is an interaction that plays itself every day in television dramas and sometimes in our real lives. We want to be trusted but we often have trouble trusting others. Disappointment, betrayal, and our own insecurities can make us rather untrusting people. But what about God? Do we trust Him and if not, why not? This verse shows us that we often fail to trust God not because he has let us down but because we want life on our own terms. So trusting God is a choice to walk the path that has been laid before us. If you have difficulty with that, consider praying “Dear God, be with me today and help me to trust you. Give me a vision of the path before me so that I can better trust you.”

Spiritual Exercise

Trust is a powerful thing. But when you lack trust in your life, you will lack some of the connections to others which are needed to have authentic and genuine relationships with others. However, trusting others is not easy. And it doesn’t happen in an instant, but over time. Does that make you wonder?
