Reading:-Psalm 96: 11-12
‘Say among the nations “The Lord reigns”. The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved: he will judge the peoples with equity.
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. ‘

Reflection
The first verses of this psalm ask for a declaration – to sing a song for God along with creation! During these summer months it seems that the whole of creation shouts out a song of praise, nature vibrates with life and that it is a season of singing. Creation motivates us to praise and an urge to shout Gods praise rises in me as I walk through the summer meadows . Verse 10 states that the Lord reigns, he is firmly established so in these days of change and disruption I am able to hold fast to that truth, I can trust him and then to rejoice!
Spiritual Exercise
Today when you are out- whether it is grey, raining or blue sky – try to find a patch of nature where you can pause for a moment – close your eyes and listen, breathe deeply and then open your eye s- look up to the heavens, look into the trees and feel the breeze. Let your senses drink in creation. All of this is made by our God who reigns – how comforting is that? Today’s reading requires us to be bold so try shouting praise to him , raise your hands and lift your head (or perhaps merely sing your praise during the day! ) as the words of the music below stay with you.
