Reading:-Genesis 8:22

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

Reflection

What a promise from our faithful God! All the things we need to enable our earthly existence will be provided as long as the earth endures. He will not destroy it. We need the constancy of the seasons, a regulated range of temperatures, light and dark to enable the earth to sustain life – and God promises to provide it. We are given a duty of care to look after the earth God has made – God has done His part, we need to do ours! It’s true we might see temporary wobbles – like this year in the veg plot very little wanted to germinate– but other people have plants to share having fared better! What we can share among friends, we can share among the world wide community – out of our plenty to those who have none today. Tomorrow, they may be the ones helping us…

Spiritual Exercise

Try growing cress seeds – they germinate quickly and don’t take long to grow before you have a harvest of your own.
Think what the seeds need to grow – light, water, warmth.. You could test what happens if they don’t get what they need – a dark cupboard, the freezer or fridge, no water…
God knows what we need and provides what we need so we can thrive.
