Reading:-James 5:7

“Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.”

Reflection

Sometimes people hear God’s call on their lives years before they are finally able to put it into practice. Often we may wonder if we heard it right. Doors close. The call seems to get further away from being possible, from becoming a reality. There may be many reasons for this. Sometimes it is whilst God prepares us to be ready when the right season comes. We look back and can see how our experiences actually helped shape us for the task ahead. A tree needs to grow sufficiently big and strong before it bears good fruit. Be patient, and focus on growing. The Gardener will prepare us for the right time to be fruitful.

Spiritual Exercise

Have a closer look at the image for today, a tree bearing the fruits of the spirit. Are there fruits that need a little more attention in your life? A bit of pruning perhaps? Ask God to grow that fruit in you … and then try to practice it!
