“Start Lent on the right foot with today’s version of Byte-Sized Daily Bread”
Reading
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” NIV
Reflection
It is so easy to trust in ourselves, in our viewpoint and values, using a current trend or some authority to justify our stance. By looking carefully at our lives we may discover what it is in which we place our trust , for our happiness and for our identity. It could be our social status, career or family. This verse calls us to place God first by reminding us that by trusting in God many pressures and anxieties are taken from us . We know deep within our being that “things work for good for those who love Him” Romans 8:28 . By trusting God we are given a strong fortress where we can rest in his plan for our lives.
Spiritual Exercise
Think back to the journey you traced on Ash Wednesday and consider
How did those life plans change , did you make those plans and journeys alone, did you consult God?
Reflect on how God made the wanderings of your life a straight path- a God Plan- for your good
Perhaps there is someone you might thank today for praying for you, counselling you and walking that path with you
Music
Have a listen to these great songs as you think about today’s reflection:
One Classic: – Ravel Miroirs!!! Une Barque sur L’Ocean
One Modern: – Where feet may fail – Oceans Hillsong United Lyrics
Another beautiful song: – James Bay: Hold Back the River
