Be a part of the St Andrew's community
Whether you are new to the area, the church or just want to see what you can come to, join in with or help with, getting involved is a great way to become part of the community of St Andrew’s. The real church is the people rather than the building itself. You don’t need to be a Christian to come and meet people and learn more about a life of faith and faith in practise. Some of these are social – for people to meet – and others have a more worship or faith-building purpose.
Cuppa & Chat (and lunch!) is a weekly social time open to all who can be around between 1pm & 3pm on a Thursday.
T4U is monthly, put on by the Mothers’ Union.
From time to time we have had both Women’s Suppers and Men’s Supper’s social gatherings based on a meal, whether an evening or breakfast, though currently both are on hold – partly as the restaurant we used for Men’s Brunches has closed!
There are family events at times through the year too.
We put on an Easter High Tea and a Christmas Dinner that you could come to or volunteer to help at.
If you like films there are two choices.
The Afternoon Film Club and Spiritual Cinema (finding a spiritual depth in secular films).
Bible Study courses run from time to time, such as The Bible Course and Lent Groups.
Maybe join a House Group to look at how we live our Christian life in practice.
We hope to keep running an annual Alpha Course (with Churches together) for those exploring Christianity.
We have a weekly Zoom prayer meeting (ask the Parish Office for the link).
On a Sunday morning, you could help on the Coffee Rota, as a Welcomer, reading out a Bible passage or or leading the prayers, operating the AV, joining the choir or music group or helping with Kid’s Church, Party In The Park or Holiday Clubs..
If you have lost a loved one, you may find the Bereavement Journey helpful.
Volunteer to help with the Foodbank or with Transforming Lives for Good.
For more details of some of these, see the list on the right or click on “Come To…” or “Take Part” on the main menu for activities and groups you may like to try.
(The menu will be in a heading bar across the page on a PC or three horizontal lines on a mobile device).
I’m sure there are more ways and new ideas are welcome too.
