Aiming for Carbon Neutral

St Andrew’s is actively working to be more environmentally friendly in how we do things.
Our Eco team have carried out projects like planting more trees and having a rewilded area in St Andrew’s Field, carried out butterfly counts and contributed to eco-focussed services in the church.
Our Gardening Group has arranged for the removal of invasive species in the churchyard and has a weekly working party/
We had an energy survey in the Summer of 2025 and are following up a number of ways to get the church to carbon-neutral.
Going for Green Gold

Silver Eco-Church Award
St Andrew’s achieved recognition as an Eco-Congregation in 2012 and the award was extended for a further three years in 2016. The Eco-Congregation scheme was then superseded by Eco-Church.
No doubt, our previous award helped us skip Bronze and go straight to gaining a Silver level Eco-Church Award in 2020.
Now we are looking at how to get to the Gold Award.
These are schemes run by the Christian environmental charity A Rocha in partnership with the Church of England, Christian Aid & others.
